Management Team

Tom Shaffer, Founder and President
Tom Shaffer brings more than twenty years experience in software development and general management to his role as President of Nexstra. Before founding Nexstra, Shaffer was Vice President of Engineering at TechPoint Solutions, a systems integrator that developed advanced wireless solutions for real-time interaction with ERP systems.

Prior to TechPoint Solutions, Shaffer was Senior Director of Engineering for Intraware (Nasdaq: ITRA), the market leader in ESDM. At Intraware, he directed a development team of more than fifty engineers and contractors that created the core products and technologies still used by Intraware today. Before Intraware, he held a variety of management and software development positions at Premenos (now Innovis), Booz Allen Hamilton, and Northrop. Shaffer holds an MBA from St. Mary’s College and a BA in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.


Daniel Maxwell, Vice President of Sales
Danial Maxwell brings over 20 years of experience in sales, sales management, client management and business development to his role as Vice President of Sales. Maxwell's diversified B2B experience is focused in software, services, products and solutions, with a long history of successes in both start up environments and large existing businesses. Maxwell excels at developing sales strategies and executing them to deliver and surpass key metrics and objectives.

Prior to joining Nexstra, Maxwell was Vice President of the western US for CAS, the top-rated Global CRM software provider in its vertical. At CAS, Maxwell and his team landed CAS' largest deal, managed current clients and complex sales cycles for many Fortune 100/500/1000 prospects. Additionally, he managed key partner relationships with Accenture, IBM Global Services, JD Edwards and Manugistics. Before CAS, Maxwell held a number of sales, sales management and customer marketing positions with Spectrum, Borden, Gillette and Glaxo-SmithKline. He has also worked as an executive sales consultant for several companies.

Maxwell holds a BS in Business Management from San Diego State University.


Steve Abdalla, Vice President of Marketing
Steve Abdalla brings over fifteen years of experience in high tech corporate strategy and marketing to his role as Vice President of Marketing. Abdalla specializes in helping technology start-ups focus their resources on markets and services for which they can deliver compelling value and on developing programs and strategies that generate explosive growth.

Prior to joining Nexstra, Abdalla was a Vice President with Launch Pad, a leading high-tech marketing consultancy. At Launch Pad, Abdalla served as a client engagement manager, overseeing marketing strategy development and tactical execution for more than a dozen high-tech start-ups. He helped launch Quack.com, Amplitude Software, and TriVida, all of which were successfully acquired by public companies.

Prior to joining Launch Pad, Abdalla consulted for Quattro Consulting, a healthcare and high-tech consulting firm, and served as a senior associate at APM, Inc., a healthcare management consultancy. He was the product manager on the original cc:Mail for Windows software application. Abdalla began his career with Bain & Company, working for more than five years at the Boston-based management consulting concern.

Abdalla holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and earned a BS with High Honors in mechanical engineering from University of California at Berkeley.


George Peterson, Vice President of Business Operations
George Peterson is a software industry veteran with more than a dozen years experience leading operations and customer service organizations for high tech companies. For Nexstra, Peterson manages client services and operations. Peterson is responsible for ensuring flawless physical fulfillment of every customer order.

Prior to joining Nexstra, Peterson served as Vice President Operations and Support for Bigstep, a web hosting company serving more than 300,000 businesses worldwide. For Bigstep, he led the customer support, quality assurance, and IT teams. Before Bigstep, he served as VP of Operations for Bidcom. Prior to BidCom, Peterson was VP of Worldwide Support and Professional Services for Premenos and Harbinger (now Innovis). Prior to Premenos, he held various management positions at AT&T and Total Petroleum.

He is a graduate of Wichita State University and holds degrees in anthropology and psychology.


David Lee, Vice President of Engineering
David Lee directs Nexstra’s extensive technology development and professional service activities. Lee leads a team of developers responsible for the architecture and design of Nexstra’s technologies in a variety of critical areas, including web store fronts, payment processing, integration with client systems, on demand production and workflow management, and integration with supplier systems.

Prior to Nexstra, Lee was President of DAL Enterprises, a software development consulting firm serving leading enterprise software vendors such as ePocractes, ePiphany, RightPoint and Centura Software. At DAL, Lee developed advanced solutions in the areas of ecommerce, messaging, multiprocessor performance enhancements, and server side programming.

Before DAL, Lee worked for IBM and Sun Microsystems.
